First issued in 1986 the American Silver Eagle has become far and away the most collected modern silver coin in the World!
Over the years several different types of Silver Eagles have been struck (Mint State, Proof, Burnished, Reverse Proof & Enhanced) but one thing that has remained unchanged is the design. Now, for the first time in 35 years, the classic American Silver Eagle is being updated with an enhanced obverse design and a brand new reverse design! The classic Walking Liberty design by Adolph Weinman is still featured on the obverse of the Type 2 Silver Eagle.
However, thanks to technological advancements in the design and minting process, Liberty now encompasses some of Weinman's original details that were not previously possible! The new reverse was designed by the artist Emily Damstra and sculpted by U. It features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to it's nest. Also included in the reverse design are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "1 OZ FINE SILVER" and "ONE DOLLAR". Both coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint!!
The proof Silver has been certified PF70 Ultra Cameo First Day of Issue by NGC. In addition the label has been hand signed by John Mercanti!!
