2015 (P) P MS70 ANACS AMERICAN SILVER EAGLE 1 of 79,640 STRUCK AT PHILADELPHIA
Offered is the number-one rarest of all American Silver Eagles, the 2015(P) Silver Eagle, struck at the Philadelphia mint, with a total mintage of just 79,640 pieces. The existence of these coins only came to light in the spring of 2017, long after they were minted and distributed, pursuant to a freedom-of-information (FOI) request to the federal government. It turns out that a mere 79,640 pieces were struck in Philadelphia in a supplemental mintage in 2015, and these were subsequently delivered to various coin dealers across the country for further distribution, alongside the primary West Point mintage of 47 million coins.

It is unknown exactly how many of the monster boxes traceable to Philadelphia (by serial number on the monster box) still remained in their mint-sealed, unopened state by the time that the FOI release was finally made known in 2017, but the vast majority of them had been opened by then, rendering their contents forever indistinguishable from the general population of 2015 West Point ASEs. It has been estimated that as few as just eleven monster boxes (5500 coins) remained unopened, with seals unbroken.

Nly these surviving UNOPENED monster boxes from Philadelphia were eligible to have their contents authenticated by PCGS/NGC/ANACS as "struck at the Philadelphia Mint" and "one of 79,640 struck" and slabbed with the "(P)" (implied-P) mintmark. Most examples graded MS69 (or lower,) with only a relative handful grading a perfect MS70. Census / Population Report Numbers for 2015 (P) ASE. NGC has graded a total of 1948 , with only 48 graded MS70. PCGS has graded a total of 2158 , with only 235 graded MS70.

ANACS has not released a census report for these to date. Several such coins are available, so your serial number may vary. All the coins are perfectly white and unblemished, and all the holders are new and unscratched.
