Item:2012(w) Silver Eagle PCGS MS70. The American Silver Eagle was authorized by Public Law: 99-61. Production started in 1986 and has continued on an annual basis ever since. The coin comes in three versions: bullion, uncirculated and proof. The latter two are numismatic or collector productions while the bullion coin is intended for investors. From 1986 through 2009, the bullion Eagle was the only silver bullion product released by the United States Mint. 2010 was the inaugural year for the five ounce. 999 fine America the Beautiful Silver Bullion coins. The bullion coins have never included a mint mark denoting where they were struck. Starting in 2011, they were struck in both West Point and San Francisco. From 1993 through 2000, they were produced in Philadelphia and featured the "P" mint mark. Since 2001, Proof Silver Eagles have been minted in West Point and bear the "W" mint mark. Three American Silver Eagle anniversary products included special one-year only proofs. In 1995 and for the coins 10th anniversary, the Mint also produced a limited amount of proofs with a "P" mint mark. In the series 20th anniversary in 2006 and 25h anniversary in 2011, the United States Mint also struck a limited number of special reverse proofs which were also produced in Philadelphia and carried the "P" mint mark. The uncirculated American Silver Eagle coin began in 2006 and has always included the "W" mint mark.
